Cheek piercing jewellery for dimple piercings through the cheek. Cheeks are thick tissue, so the jewellery is a long flat back labret stud: a flat disc inside the mouth and a small top on the outside that sits where a dimple would be.
Cheek studs
Bar length is the important measurement. Most healed cheek piercings take 10mm to 14mm; fresh piercings are often pierced longer to allow for swelling and downsized later. Tops stay small, from a 3mm ball or disc to a 4mm gem, so the stud reads as a dimple rather than a stud.
Looking after a cheek piercing
Cheek piercings heal slowly and are prone to irritation, so keep the jewellery plain and the bar correctly sized. Downsizing to the shortest comfortable bar once swelling has gone is the single best thing you can do for it.
Sizing and materials
Cheek piercing jewellery is all about post length. Cheeks are the thickest tissue we pierce, so bars run 10mm to 14mm once healed and longer while swollen, at 1.2mm (16g) or 1.6mm (14g). Cheek studs are long flat back labrets in implant grade ASTM F-136 titanium, the only metal we would put through a cheek, because the disc rests against the molars and the post sits in saliva through months of healing. Keep the top small and plain while it heals, then dress it up once it has settled.
