Dermal piercing jewellery for single-point microdermal anchors: the small flat base sits under the skin and only the top shows, so the jewellery looks like a gem set straight into the chest, cheekbone, collarbone or hip.
Dermal tops
Dermal tops screw into the anchor and are the part you change. Flat discs and low domes are the safest everyday choice because they do not catch on clothing. Gems, opals and shaped tops dress it up; keep them under 4mm so the anchor is not pulled.
Dermal anchors
The anchor is fitted once by your piercer and should not be changed at home. Tops are swapped with the anchor held still, ideally by a piercer for the first change.
Sizing and materials
Dermal piercing jewellery comes in two parts: the anchor, fitted once by your piercer, and the top, which is the part you change. Tops use a 1.2mm (16g) internal thread and run 3mm to 5mm across; keep them under 4mm on the face so the anchor is never pulled. Microdermal anchors come with 6mm or 7mm bases on a 2.5mm rise, and the base is your piercer's call, not a guess. Dermal tops and anchors are implant grade ASTM F-136 titanium, the only material that belongs under the skin for the long term.
