Labret piercing jewellery for the piercing centred below the bottom lip. A labret stud is the classic fit: a flat disc sits against the inside of the lip and the decorative top shows on the outside. Rings and hinged hoops work once the piercing has healed.
Labret studs
Flat back labret studs come in threaded and threadless fittings. Bar length matters: 8mm suits most healed labrets, 10mm gives swelling room on a fresh one, and 6mm is for thin lips or a piercing that has settled very snug. Tops range from a plain ball or disc to gems, opals and clusters.
Labret rings
A 8mm to 10mm hinged ring or seamless ring hugs the lip and gives a different look from a stud. Lip rings should sit without pressing on the teeth, so start at the smaller end if you are unsure.
Sizing and materials
Labret jewellery is sized by the post: 1.2mm (16g) as standard, 1.6mm (14g) on some, with 8mm suiting most healed labrets, 10mm for a fresh one, and 6mm for a piercing that has settled very snug. Titanium labret studs are the core of the range, implant grade ASTM F-136 in polished, gold PVD and black PVD, with opal and gemstone tops set in titanium and solid gold labret studs for a touch of luxury. The same flat back posts in shorter lengths double as labret nose studs and flat back earrings, so one top can travel across every piercing you have.
